Gough Engineering appoints Matt Davies, new design engineer

Matt brings expertise in mechanical design, 3D modelling and customer-specific solutions to Team Gough

Gough Engineering knows that standard engineering equipment often doesn't meet the unique needs of modern material handling. We are pleased to share that Matt Davies has joined Team Gough as its new design engineer. His addition will strengthen our custom machinery capabilities.

With extensive expertise in mechanical design, 3D modelling and customer-specific solutions, Matt brings invaluable skills to our team. He has a strong background working with leaders in food innovation, mobility and materials processing, gaining insights into custom design, machine safety and advanced engineering.

"Matt has the skill to create equipment for each client’s specific needs," said Stephen Harding, managing director of Gough Engineering. "This will enable us to deliver custom solutions across different industries."

In his role, Matt will work closely within Rob Rogers’ design team, specifically with design engineer Aanish Ali. Together, they will create bespoke solutions that improve production efficiency, enhance safety solutions and meet each client’s specific needs.

Matt said, "I’m excited to join Gough Engineering. People recognise this company for its focus on customised solutions. I look forward to working with the team. Together, we’ll design equipment that meets our customers’ needs while improving efficiency and safety for human operators."

Gough Engineering's design team is currently working on several projects involving separation and elevating within conveying solutions. These projects use Vibrecons and specialised vacuum systems, combining a shared Rip & Tip station with integrated sieving.

These systems will be safe, efficient and tailored to each client's needs, providing an alternative to manual handling systems.

Why custom equipment matters

Manufacturers are under pressure to innovate, making custom equipment increasingly important, particularly for high-speed production lines. Seamless integration is essential to remain competitive.

For example, a food producer came to us needing a material handling system that could handle different bag sizes, meet ATEX safety standards and improve efficiency.

We delivered a customised solution, featuring Swinglink® bucket elevators and Floveyor aero-mechanical conveyors. These cost-effective systems provided high throughput and energy savings while maintaining safety.

By choosing customised material handling systems, manufacturers can better achieve operational goals, boost productivity, minimise downtime and improve product quality.

“Gough Engineering creates custom solutions that help improve efficiency and assist clients with health and safety and risk assessments in a challenging market,” Harding noted.

“In today’s fast-paced manufacturing world, custom equipment is essential. We are delighted to welcome Matt to Team Gough, where he’ll help us deliver solutions that keep our clients competitive and enhance their performance.”
