A Changing World Leads to Exciting Opportunities at Gough Engineering
We are excited to announce two new appointments to our Sales Team: Sales Manager Andy Woodford; and Customer Solutions Engineer Carl Hodges. The appointments are part of a series of measures that Gough Engineering has taken to future-proof the company in the current changing economic climate.
Over 25 years of experience in the materials handling industry
Newly appointed Sales Manager Andy Woodford joins us after a successful career within the materials handling industry. Andy began his working life in the construction industry before finding his calling in solids handling in the early 1990s. After 25 years facilitating materials handling for some of the world’s largest companies, both in the UK, USA and Europe, Andy is looking forward to laying down roots at Gough Engineering and putting his expertise to good use.
Andy commented, “I am delighted to be working with a market leader again. Gough Engineering is a very well recognised company within the materials handling industry and I am looking forward to developing strong relationships with our existing and new customers.”
Stephen Harding, Managing Director at Gough Engineering, confirmed that the changing economic climate brought about by the Covid-19 crisis prompted the new hire:
“It was becoming apparent that we needed to evaluate our working practices, now that so much business is being conducted remotely. The Covid-19 crisis forced us to evaluate how we managed our new and existing customer relationships from a digital angle and, as soon as we met Andy Woodford, we knew that he was the right person to lead the Sales Department in this new direction.”
A Digital Transformation
Our newly appointed Customer Solutions Engineer, Carl Hodges, is further evidence of the company’s desire for a digital transformation. Carl continued his further and higher education in engineering through gaining a Batchelor of Computer-Aided Engineering Degree, a Masters in Advanced Manufacturing Systems and a CPGS in Investment Modelling within Operations Strategy.
His career within industry first began as a consultant and he moved on to provide software solutions for manufacturing companies and academic institutions. Carl also brings the experience in successful sales managerial roles within large material handling equipment by providing bespoke solutions. Carl’s appointment goes hand-in-hand with investments made by Gough Engineering in new internal software, beginning a fresh chapter in the company’s digital era. Carl will be managing the new CRM system and guiding the Sales, Production and Aftermarket Departments in their provision of a world class customer service.
Asked about his new role, Carl commented: “I am really looking forward to working with the Gough team in developing further business opportunities and supporting internal systems. With Covid-19 effects being felt heavily throughout the world, it is a challenging time for everyone. However, where there is a will, there is a way forward and I am excited to see what the future holds for British manufacturing.”
